Last week, in Liverpool, the ruling Liberal Democrats proposed cutting 25 school crossing patrol wardens. In the light of spirited opposition by the Labour Group opposition on Liverpool City Council, and a massive groundswell of opposition by the public in general, in particular on phone ins, the Liberal Democrats have now reversed this ill thought through cut to a vital service.
I hope that in the future, the Liberal Democrats in Liverpool will be more careful in the savings they wish to make, in particular when it comes to areas like children's safety, or the vulnerability of the elderly, another area in which they have a flawed track record.

Apparently they are going to find the savings in the Highways budget, somehow!
